SERIOUS BODYWORK FOR SERIOUS PRACTITIONERS

This 100-hour intensive training is designed to advance the massage therapist’s skill-set and knowledge base to a level appropriate for the treatment of orthopedic conditions.  This OMT Certification Program will provide the massage therapist with tools to recognize and effectively treat orthopedic injury and chronic pain syndromes while remaining within their scope of practice.

Part I - Core Concepts & Orthopedic Conditions of the Neck and Upper Extremity (50 hours)
Part II - Orthopedic Conditions of the Spine, Respiratory System and Lower Extremity (50 hours)

Participates can expect to:
  • Increase efficiency and efficacy of your bodywork
  • Gain skills in recognizing pain patterning and compensatory responses
  • Learn etiology, presentation, and treatment of over 50 orthopedic conditions
  • Enhance and refine palpation skills
  • Enhance communication skills
  • Improve anatomical knowledge and understanding
  • Learn over 150 effective techniques to balance soft tissue and specifically address injury

Course includes proprietary, instructor-developed, 200 page Orthopedic Massage Treatment manual. 

This is a two part course.  Part I is a prerequisite for Part II.  Details below.

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS (CE) 
50 NCBTMB approved CE hours per Part.  To achieve certification, participants must pass a written exam at the end of each Part.

Part I - Core Concepts & Orthopedic Conditions of the Neck and Upper Extremity

Prerequisite: Massage Therapist Certification

The first installment relays the theory and practice of Orthopedic Massage application.  A detailed anatomical and kinesiological review of each region precedes a description of orthopedic, and related conditions, indicated for Orthopedic Massage treatment.  Over 80 techniques for treatment of the neck and upper extremity will be demonstrated and practiced.

  • Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
  • Radial Nerve Entrapment

Part II - Orthopedic Conditions of the Spine, Respiratory System and Lower Extremity

Prerequisite: Orthopedic Massage Certification - Part I
            
The second installment focuses on orthopedic conditions of the torso, hips, and lower extremity.  As in Part One, coverage of each region will include a detailed review of relevant anatomical structures, kinesiology, and related orthopedic conditions.  Over 80 techniques for treatment of the torso and lower extremity will be demonstrated and practiced.
